A love that lingers. A memory that refuses to fade. Echo is a visual and poetic meditation on the afterimage of love—where joy and loss intertwine, and the past echoes into the present.
Through spoken word and intimate, dreamlike visuals, the film captures the essence of a love story not in its ending, but in its most radiant, unshaken moments. A single woman at a lakeside—carefree, playful, and deeply alive—flirts with the camera, drawing us into the warmth of what once was. This is not a tale of heartbreak, but of the memories that refuse to disappear, the emotions that resurface like ripples on water.
As writer, director, and editor, I shaped Echo from its earliest whispers to its final frame, collaborating with my film collective to bring this vision to life. While I developed the storyboard and shotlist, the film was a testament to teamwork, with Chris Cerda as Director of Photography, Hugo Donis as Camera Operator, and Lisa Cerda as Assistant Director.
The artistry of Nyima Kinloch (MUA), Susana Rodriguez (Hair Stylist), and Raine Mendez (BTS Photographer) enriched every detail, while Jennifer Peña’s luminous performance breathed life into the piece.
A film of love, memory, and the quiet ache of moving forward—
This is Echo.
I still look for you, I do
Entre la gente
Subconsciously, te veo
Son las sombras de nuestro cuento
Lurking in the background,
That form of you that remains from the ashes of our story
And the scars you left when you left
Because maybe you couldn’t leave sin llevarte más
Or maybe it was just the ego
Pero esa sombra todavía me persigue
Pushing and pulling on these new pieces of me
For why how do I let go
De la Esperanza
Of a beautiful love story
Lo eh intentado
I’ve spoken to the image that still appears in the back of my mind
How are you? I ask
I haven’t heard from you in a while, i wonder if you eat when you’re hungry without a delay,
if you meditate to ease the anxiety, if you smile everyday when you feel joy radiating around you
Como estas?
But I no longer wait for an answer
Instead I smile in acceptance to what is
And my heart it shrinks for a second
But beats again – Knowing one day it will be fully loved in all of it’s power.
